In the dead of winter, it’s hard not to shut yourself off from the world. I love Columbus, but it gets so cold here and I’m not going to lie, on cold winter days, I prefer staying inside, drinking hot cocoa and binge watching NetFlix. Even though it was about 12 degrees when we took these pictures, it was fun to run around outside again.
I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce you to one of my best friends and photographer, Nicole. We love to explore and spending time outside, although this weather has hindered on the amount of time we’ve spent adventuring. We’re both wearing different variations of the perfect winter outfit–leggings and an oversized sweater. Running leggings are perfect when it’s cold because they’re more insulated that regular yoga pants from Pink or leggings from Forever 21. Plus, throwing a beanie on top not only makes you look about 70% cooler, but also a lot warmer because you’re not losing heat from your head.
Don’t get me wrong, I’d much rather be on the beach, drinking mango smoothies. But in 2015, I’m going to stop wishing for summer (too much) and try my best to enjoy what I’m living with. So, here’s to 3 more months of trying not freeze.
Stay cute, stay warm, and don’t let the weather slow you down.

Welcome to my first blog post of 2015. This outfit is a combination of all of my favorite things. At this point, I’m not even sure how many T-Shirt dresses I own (it’s a large amount), but when I saw an all black T-Shirt dress, I just couldn’t pass it up. I’ve found that leather jackets aren’t terribly warm, so I actually bought this jacket in a size up for layering purposes which totally adds to the grunge effect. It was also around 20 degrees when we took these pictures, so for warmth, I threw a flannel over top of my dress. Instead of tights, I wore thigh high socks. For shoes, I’m the same booties I previously said would become a staple piece for me.

Happy Halloween! I didn’t buy these ears to make a costume, but for obvious reason, I still think this look is incredibly appropriate for Halloween. There was a lot of climbing and falling involved in taking these pictures, but it was a lot of fun. On top, I wore this eyeball halter top from Brandy Melville. I wore it with my super high-rise light wash jeans–since the top is so cropped, the outfit needed a little bit of balance. My jacket is a second hand army coat. It’s way too big on me, but I feel like it makes me look super grungey so I’m into it. For shoes, I went with these super cute and comfortable heeled booties from H&M. These boots are going to be great for fall/winter and the heel is the perfect height for me. Finally, I topped the look off with my favorite pair of bear ears.

One of my favorite things to do in the fall is go apple picking. I love running around outside, and an apple orchard happens to make for the perfect photo op. It was pretty chilly the day we went, so layering was essential. This sweater is great because it’s thick enough to wear in place of a light jacket, and the colors are perfect for fall. I wore it over top of a gray, cropped Brandy Melville t-shirt and my favorite high-rise blue jeans. Since we were going to be walking around outside, I went with my trusty pair of studded combat boots (boots look better when they’re worn and a little dirty anyways). For accessories, I kept with my layering theme, and wore 2 simple gold necklaces. My favorite part of this outfit is my hat. It’s one of those things you pick up in the store to make fun of and actually fall in love with (it also makes me feel like if Pharrell so that’s a plus). Lastly, I carried a bookbag instead of a regular purse. I’ve found purses get in the way and I really needed both of my hands for optimal apple picking. Plus, I fell twice, so I can’t imagine how awkward I would have been carrying a purse.

I am pro-anything military inspired. That is why this jacket from the Gypsy Warrior x Pacsun collection is one of my new favorites. I love the way it fits me because I feel like it’s the perfect balance between masculine and feminine. It has an inner draw string so you can bring it in at the waist to give it a little more shape, but I honestly love the baggy, shapeless look of it. I wore it over the ever-so-popular Jada Dress from Brandy Melville. The back cuts pretty low, so I opted for a bralette that crosses in the back. Since it was chilly, I went with a super opaque pair of tights and a cute wedges from Aldo that make my legs look way longer than they actually are. For accessories, I thought my nail bangle and tiered necklace were perfect to finish this look.
